With the approval of the CIC (Commercial Industry Caucus) Archipelago is continuing to provide
monitoring services for the 2011/2012 Groundfish Hook and Line Catch Monitoring Program, which
started Feb. 21, 2011.
We are pleased to announce that DFO is continuing to provide a cost sharing contribution of
$700,000 towards Groundfish EM costs in 2011.
A new Fee Schedule has been produced with reduced EM rates that reflect the addition of the
DFO contribution; which we have made effective July 1. This means that all trips landed after
July 1st will be billed using the new rates. Archipelago’s costs have decreased this year, so
you will notice that the new EM rates are less than they were in 2010/2011.
New Fee Schedules will be handed out at the dock but are also available at any of our offices,
by email (amr@archipelago.ca), or by calling; 1-888-383-4535.
Licence holders who fished prior to the contribution taking effect will have their accounts
adjusted and credits or refunds issued where applicable.
We are in the middle of contract discussions with the CIC, which when completed will produce
new Terms and Conditions of service. In the interim we are continuing to use last years Terms
and Conditions, which are still current.
All participants are required to register for the 2011/2012 year. Please contact any of our
offices to get a copy of the registration package. To register, licence holders just complete
a registration form and pay the administration fee. All trips commencing after February 20 are
subject to the new rates.
The CIC has elected to continue collecting program costs using the same fee based cost recovery
model used in previous years.
We look forward to working with the fleet again this year and anticipate continued refinement
of the program. Please do not hesitate to contact me, or any of our Program Management staff,
with questions or concerns.
