Dominic Torheiden
Dominic moved to the island after finishing a BSc in ecology and joined Archipelago in early 2020 as an At-Sea Fisheries Observer. That summer he transitioned to dockside monitoring in Port Hardy, then came to the Victoria office in 2021 as a data tech working the hook and line fisheries. He went on to cover a lot of ground within FMS: audits became a specialty, and he also liaised with DFO, tested tablets and Portal features, and trained many of the staff who have since stepped into his own role.
As of June 2025, Dominic has joined the Environmental Service team as a Junior Biologist. In this new role, he is supporting construction projects in the field and collecting environmental compliance data for key clients. Outside of work, he camps and hikes around BC, follows new music, and travels with his partner.
